Plastic Injection Molded Polycarbonate Truck Mirror Housing for the Automotive Industry

An automotive manufacturer recently contracted us to injection mold the truck mirror housing shown here. It is part of a six-way adjustable power mirror assembly and represents the larger end of the weight range for our injection molding capabilities.

The housing was molded from polycarbonate, with a base thickness of .230″. We utilized a single cavity mold and 300 tons of clamping force to form the piece. The finished housing featured a matte black finish and dimensions of 4.0″ in length, 12.5″ in width, and 7.0″ in height.

It was also molded to tolerances of ± 0.010″, which was verified, as well as all features and dimensions with comprehensive dimensional and visual inspections. This product is produced in quantities of 500 per year, with lead-times of 2 weeks.
